The game has been developed and released by PopCap Games in October 2021. It's the follow-up to the highly popular first game Feeding Frenzy: Seasons of Life. Only your score and lives get carried over (time in Time Attack Mode).Feeding Frenzy 2: Shipwreck Showdown, formerly known as Feeding Frenzy, is an arcade-type platform game by American designer Scott Couch and European designer Christian Gough. Power-ups, frenzies, and abilities acquired in a level do not carry over to the next level you are playing in. The size of the ! depends upon the size of the fish. This usually means a Barracuda or The Intruder will fly through. When an ! in a Triangle appears on your screen, it means a large threat is about to appear from that direction. Note that when you are in the sky, your fish will be off-screen, so it may be difficult to perform the moves correctly. To flip whilst in the air, rapidly press the button. Having a speed boost as well will allow you to go even higher in the sky. You can flip your fish out of the water in some levels that allow you to do so. If you don't eat any fish for a short moment, the Frenzy Bonus will decrease. These can be useful if you want to fill the combo meter. There is a Star Bubble, which appears from time to time that will fill up one of the letters of "Frenzy". Keep on eating more fish, and you will get more bonuses. If you manage to eat multiple fish in succession, you will get a Frenzy Bonus. You must be cautious with this move as sometimes you will fly across to the other side of the screen, and you may not know if a fish that is bigger than you are is where you are resting your fish.
You can perform a dash boost in this game by pressing the button on regular basis.
You will only have a total of 2 Continues before you get an official Game Over, which makes you return to the title screen. If you get a Game Over in Story or Time Attack Mode, you are allowed to use a Continue to retry the level again with the default amount of lives. If you have progressed in Story or Time Attack Mode and you select Continue Game, you can continue from the level you have progressed to, or you can backtrack to a previous level you have completed. This is a useful feature when you play Time Attack mode as it will save you from losing your progress and starting all over again from Level 1. Your progress will be saved, and you will not lose your progress. If you need to leave the game at any time, you can press, and then select Return To Menu. In addition, you must be careful as the achievement unlock screen might disturb your gameplay. You will then get a screen which tells you which achievement you got after finishing the level you're playing. Any miscellaneous achievement will be unlocked as you play the level.
